Nokia Net Monitor description (DCT3)
MAIN PAGE Test 23 – Information about Battery and Battery UseAvailable in: 2100, 3330, 5110, 6150, 6210, 7110, 8210, 8250, 9210(i) This test displays more general information about the battery, and also current consumption and voltage levels.
(In Nokia 9210(i) the help screen is different, although most values seem to mean the same) TxOn: Voltage from the battery when transmitter is active (x.xxx V) TxOff: Voltage from the battery when transmitter is inactive (x.xxx V) ChCur: The charging current being delivered to the battery, in milliamps (x.xxx mA). This value generally stays constant during both Ni-MH charging and Li-Ion charging (except when using ACP-7A), except when in the end stage of Li-Ion charging, during which the current is pulsed (See “Test 20 – Battery and Charging Information”). During the pulsed charging, the value will usually fluctuate between 0 and the actual charging current, depending on whether the latest sample was taken during a pulse or not. The maximum value of this charging current varies depending on the charger’s capacity – around 350mA on the ACP-7A, 600-700mA on the ACP-8A, and 800-850mA on the ACP-12A. Stdby: Expected voltage from the battery in standby mode (x.xxx V). You can check whether your SIM card 's clock can be stopped in Test 51. Age: Estimate battery age (0 - new, 100 - old) for Li-Ion batteries (the value of this counter is probably based on measurements of work/discharging time of the battery and its capacity (shown in Test 20); this is only a reference!) or 33 for Ni-MH batteries. CAP: Battery charge level in percent (in older phones, like Nokia 5110, 25 - 1 bar, 50 - 2 bars, 75 - 3, 100 - 4 bars on the right side of the screen; in newer, like Nokia 6210 - 100 - 6 bars, 80 - 4 bars, 60 - 3 bars, 40 - 2 bars, 20 - 1 bar). This indicator (and parameter) is very inaccurate during charging process (it reaches 100 almost immediately) - better use CmAh and Targ parameters then. Curr: The current power consumption of the unit, in milliamps (x.xxx mA). This is an interesting value, you will notice it changes depending on what the phone is doing. If the lights come on, you will notice the power consumption increases greatly. If the transmitter is going (see “Test 1 – Serving Cell Information (1)”) the power consumption will increase even more (varies depending on how hard the transmitter is outputting and which band). This value is not actually measured it seems, but calculated based on pre-known values by the phone. This is why, for example, if the backlight LEDs have been changed, and usually consume more power especially if the resistors have been bypassed, it is not reflected here. Tmp: Li-Ion battery temperature (also shown in Test 20 - sometimes both these indicators are different) or 0 (for Ni-MH battery). CmAh: How many mAh were "loaded" to the battery until now. If it is approximately equal to Targ, the latter parameter raises (or charging is complete). This parameter is cleared after each use of TCH channel (for example: after a call) while charging (with Ni-MH battery) - you can use this tip to extend charging time almost ad infinitum. Noticed it with Nokia 6110 and Li-Ion battery (when turned off and on phone during charging process) too. This value is updated every 14 seconds (Nokia 5110 with standard charger). Targ: Battery capacity value (in mAh) by which next charging stage is complete (see description of the previous parameter). Noticed, that it's cleared during Li-Ion battery charging (when turned off and on phone during charging process) in Nokia 6110. Approximate power consumption (this can be changed and modified by many other factors) while using individual channels (Nokia 5xxx and 6xxx):
Turning on backlight takes 90 mA more, and while charging another 17 mA should be added. In Nokia 3210 these data are different for different person (does it depend on firmware version, frequency?)
